Blue Hills Inn

Blue Hills Inn

I am keeping my feet dry on higher ground. I left the ‘River Side’ hotel because the side of the river was too close for comfort. I am now at ‘Blue Hills Inn’ overlooking the city from Sri-Nagar hill. Unfortunately I was not alone in seeking higher ground, and I was among the last, therefore I ended up in a room overlooking the side of the mountain, at ten meters away. Those who fled the city first secured the rooms with views on Vairostai. As I write this I can hear music just down the road. I will go and take a look later, it is very pleasant music, the musicians are good. I played the trumpet once but haven’t for many years. Now they are playing a joyful tune I know well. It does not feel right at this time. While many in the city suffer. There is no reason for joy. A three legged dog came to me when I was sitting down to dinner earlier today. It hopped awkwardly towards me and sat down beside my table, staring longingly at the sausage on my plate. I resolved not to give the creature anything. My resolve lasted all of five minutes. I shared part of my sausage with the sweet animal. It wanted more. This time my resolve did win. It moved on to the next table. I felt cruel, until the man at the other table gave the begging creature a whole sausage. A dog’s love is won easily.
