Love at first sight
Sand under my weary feet, Dust on my breath. I feel a sure defeat, Walking to certain death.
A glimpse, a silhouette in the window. Shapely, with long dark hair. A play of light, a sudden face shows, A jolt, I am struck, I stare! What I see, few will ever know, An apparation stunningly fair!
Grit makes my teeth gnash. My burning eyes behold, A ray, a divine flash. A pause, precious as gold!
A smile? is it just imagination? An oasis of beauty among the harsh! I seek a memory, a recognition, My brain trudges through marsh. A spark, a remembered animation, A name, Zara, springs up large!
